Quirinius:  An Elegy on the Loss of Roman Britain

The Roman Empire in the west has fallen, and the island of Britain remains an outpost of Roman culture assailed by barbarians.  Flavius Quirinius Claudianus accepts the mantle of Count of the Britains from the aged and embittered Ambrosius Aurelianus, determined to lead his fellow Romano-Britons against Picts and Saxons.  His fellow Romans are less than grateful.  The reward for his struggle?  To be dimly remembered as the mythical King Arthur.

“Deeply researched and well-written, this adventure into a time both little known and very seminal to our own is a pleasure to read.” — Cecelia Holland
